Advanced Veterinary Surgery (AVS) is a modern, comprehensive veterinary surgical practice, equipped with advanced imaging capabilities. AVS offers a wide range of essential services for pets requiring immediate or referral surgical intervention. Additionally, many progressive diagnostic testing options and alternative therapeutic treatments are available.
Our mission is to offer the leading edge diagnostics so our experienced surgical team can help assess and restore the health of your furry family member.
With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Jeremy Trousdale performs advanced surgeries for dogs and cats. Dr. Trousdale has experience in the following areas:
Whether your pet fell and injured a limb or deals with chronic joint problems, a surgical consultation can help with the understanding of the cause and provide the options for management.
This category of surgical patients may include disease processes that require urgent or emergent care to counter a potential life-threatening issue. As well, sometimes a pet develops a tumor or tumors over some time requiring intervention.
Any surgical approach causing minimal trauma to the patient's tissues may be considered minimally invasive. Treatment options such as laparoscopy, arthroscopy, rhinoscopy, and urethroscopy utilize a small camera attached to a TV monitor, allowing close-up visualization of the structures in question. When a scope can be used, the incision sizes are dramatically smaller than standard approaches.
Some patients with severe neck pain or back pain can be treated right here in Durango. This category of surgical patient is more limited in this region, as some neurologic cases will require MRI or more advanced surgical care than can be provided.
Investigation into the source of a medical condition, or the severity of an injury is often limited to blood work and x-rays. AVS provides options for deeper investigation using computed tomography (CT), ultrasound, endoscopy, rapid turn around cytology, as well as the traditionally available x-ray and blood work capability.
Dr. Trousdale provides other advanced procedures such as endoscopic assessment of the upper GI tract, urethroscopy, rhinoscopy, CSF tap, and chronic wound care. Chemotherapeutic options may also be available based on individual cases.
